PolitiFact, the Pulitzer Prize-winning politics fact-checking organization, is seeking a part-time editor fluent in English and Spanish to help us execute our Spanish fact-checking. This is a one-year position that can be performed remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

PolitiFact launched its Spanish fact-checking initiative, PolitiFact En Español, in spring 2023 and the team includes two full-time reporters focused on debunking Spanish misinformation. Since 2023, we’ve published more than 150 fact-checks and stories clarifying to readers the truth behind the misleading, out-of-context or entirely wrong posts that land in social media news feeds and elsewhere.

Daily responsibilities include editing Spanish-language fact-check articles for accuracy and AP style, vetting ideas for claims to investigate, and reviewing our Spanish social media content. You’ll help advance PolitiFact’s mission to offer fact-checked Spanish information in a critical election year.

PolitiFact is part of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, which aims to create best practices for guiding quality journalism around the world. That goal is best served by a multigenerational team that embodies a range of life experiences and viewpoints. Poynter has offices in Washington, D.C., and St. Petersburg, Florida.

The hourly pay is $35. We expect the person in this position to work four or five days per week and four to five hours per day, up to 20 hours per week. There are no benefits available with this position.
